Project Title: Feature Integration: Convenience Store (Konbini) Aisle & Service Locator

  • My Role: UI/UX Project Manager (Internship)

Project Overview

This project aimed to enhance the Google Maps experience for users in Japan by introducing a feature to help them locate specific items (like ATMs, specific coffee brands, or hot food) and services (like ticket printing) within major convenience store chains. The challenge was to integrate this granular data into the existing Maps interface in an intuitive, non-cluttered way.

My Key Contributions

  • Coordinated Cross-Functional Teams: I acted as the liaison between the UX design team, user researchers, and software engineers. I managed project timelines and facilitated design sprints to ensure we moved from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes efficiently.

  • Managed User Research Synthesis: I oversaw the process of synthesizing user research findings from surveys and interviews conducted in Tokyo and Osaka, helping the design team translate user pain points into actionable UI improvements.

  • Ensured Design System Compliance: I was responsible for ensuring that all new UI components and patterns created for this feature were fully compliant with Google's Material Design system, maintaining a consistent user experience across the platform.
