Project Title: "Minori" Design System: Internal Tool UI Framework
My Role: UI/UX Project Manager (Internship)
Project Overview
The engineering teams at Google Japan used a variety of internal tools for data analysis and project management, many with inconsistent user interfaces. My project, codenamed "Minori," was to manage the development of a minimalist UI framework—a streamlined version of Material Design—to be adopted across three key internal projects, ensuring a cohesive and efficient user experience for Google employees.
My Key Contributions
Stakeholder Management: I coordinated with product managers and engineering leads from three different internal teams to gather requirements and ensure the design framework would meet their specific needs and technical constraints.
Documentation & Adoption: I was responsible for overseeing the creation of clear, comprehensive documentation for the "Minori" framework. I also contributed to the internal adoption strategy by helping host a session for engineers on the power of "less is more" in design, which increased initial buy-in.
Timeline & Resource Tracking: I developed and maintained the project roadmap, tracked design and development progress against key milestones, and communicated status updates to senior management.
