Project Title: UI Enhancement for Japanese Recipe Search Snippets
My Role: UI/UX Project Manager (Internship)
Project Overview
This initiative focused on improving how recipes from Japanese cooking sites were displayed in Google Search results. The goal was to redesign the "rich snippet" to better showcase culturally specific information, such as key Japanese ingredients (e.g., dashi, mirin), prep time vs. cook time, and difficulty ratings in a more visual format.
My Key Contributions
Competitive Analysis & Ideation: I managed the initial discovery phase, which involved a competitive analysis of Japanese recipe platforms like Cookpad. I organized and facilitated brainstorming sessions with the UX team to generate ideas for new UI components.
Prototype & Testing Coordination: I planned and coordinated the user testing sessions for three different high-fidelity prototypes. After analyzing the results, I presented a data-driven recommendation to the lead designer for which design to move forward with.
Cross-Cultural Design Advocacy: I acted as a cultural liaison, ensuring the design choices and iconography were intuitive and relevant to a Japanese audience, which was critical for the project's success.
