LIVE A LIVE

Role: Localization Team Lead (2022)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Project Overview

The global release of Live A Live was a unique challenge, as it was the first time this classic, previously Japan-only title was introduced to a worldwide audience. The game's distinct structure—eight different stories in eight different time periods—required a highly nuanced approach to maintain the unique voice and tone of each protagonist.

My Role & Responsibilities

Complex Narrative Management: As Team Lead, I guided the localization strategy for the game's eight distinct storylines. I developed separate style guides for each era and protagonist to ensure consistency in tone, dialect, and terminology.

Marketing Collaboration: I worked directly with the global marketing and branding teams to establish and approve key terms, character names, and ability names. This collaboration was critical for creating a cohesive global identity for the game across all promotional materials and the final product.

Quality & Consistency: I oversaw the final review process for all localized text, ensuring that the unique charm and humor of the original script were successfully adapted for different cultural contexts.
