Project Overview

As a prequel to the beloved console RPG, OCTOPATH TRAVELER: Champions of the Continent brought the series' signature HD-2D art style and deep storytelling to mobile devices. The main challenge was adapting this narrative-heavy experience into an episodic, live-service format for a global audience, ensuring the localization maintained the quality and tone of the original game while supporting a continuous stream of new content.

My Role & Responsibilities

Episodic Content Management: I managed the end-to-end localization for a steady pipeline of new story chapters, character quests, and limited-time events. This required agile project management to meet the demanding schedule of a live-service game.

Narrative & Lore Consistency: I was responsible for maintaining strict consistency with the established world, lore, and unique character speech patterns of the Octopath Traveler series. This involved creating detailed style guides and glossaries for the translation teams.

HD-2D UI Adaptation: I collaborated closely with the UI/UX team to ensure all localized text—from dialogue boxes to complex menu systems—was implemented effectively within the specific constraints of the game's signature HD-2D aesthetic.

Community Feedback Loop: I worked with the community management team to monitor and analyze player feedback regarding localization post-launch, helping to identify and prioritize any linguistic issues or inconsistencies for subsequent patch updates.
